The fuel pump in your vehicle is an integral part of your vehicle's fuel system, providing pressurized gas to the fuel injectors. The fuel pump is powered by an electric motor and is inside of the gas tank. The output and the pressure of the pump is actually controlled by a regulator.
A good OEM fuel pump can last you indefinitely with proper vehicle care. However, this part, like many other mechanical parts, can degrade over time and need to be replaced. If the fuel pumps fails, your engine won't receive the fuel it needs to run your vehicle. If your fuel pump needs to be replaced, you may notice one or more of the following symptoms:
- Your vehicle won't start
- Car unexpectedly stalls
- The check engine light is on
- You hear a whirring noise coming from the fuel tank
